Duelling dementia

A student's family's battle with Alzheimer's

One Shawnigan student is battling a disease close to home.

On Tuesday morning, a Grade 11 student rose in Chapel to remind the Shawnigan community about her father's battle with dementia, something she had spoken about powerfully in the Spring.

She then told the student body that she has taken on the mantle as a spokesperson for the Alzheimer Society of BC's January campaign.

The Groves' House girl is planning on selling blue and yellow forget-me-not pins across campus, in hopes of raising money and awareness for the disease.

Those who contribute will be permitted to wear blue and yellow non-school dress on Jan. 29th.
