Rugby Tour Update

Matches and culture in RSA

The senior boys rugby tour continues in South Africa, with the squad playing in a rugby festival as well as visiting popular tourist destinations such as the infamous Robben Island prison, where Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 18 years.

Day 5

1st XV win 53-33 and 2nd XV lose a tough game 72-0. After the game we headed off to another beach for lunch and a swim. The teams play again on Wednesday.

In the evening we were treated to a theater dinner by Mr. Andrew Purdy. The venue was filled with District Six memorabilia and many history lessons were shared. The food and signing was superb; we even had our own boys on stage – Well done to Brennan and Litha!

Day 6

Today we visited the Green Market for some shopping and a walk around Cape Town. The two rugby games were hard fought battles. The 2nd XV tied 17-17 against and skilled side from the Eastern part of Cape Town. The 1st XV lost in a game against the hosts Tygerberg 53-22. We are off to Knysna in the morning.

We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
