The top five have earned their spots in next round of the Hector McIntosh Public Speaking Competition.
Fifteen students gathered in the Chapel on Monday for Shawnigan's qualification round for the annual event.
With topics ranging from Memory Loss to Bellybuttons to Tips on Being a Spy, the students performed 5-7 minute speeches of their own creation in front of an audience of judges and peers.
Presented by Duncan Rotary and Toastmasters, the five qualifiers will advance to the semifinals in Duncan, May 2-3.
