Provincial champs!

Junior boys win BC sevens

Shawnigan's Junior Boys have contributed another chapter to the School's rugby legacy.

12 boys ventured to St. George's School last weekend, to represent Shawnigan at the newly-formed Provincial Junior Sevens Tournament.

The boys opened play on Friday morning with comprehensive victories over Rockridge, Robert Bateman and Sentinal to top their group.

Advancing to the semifinals, Shawigan fashioned a comfortable win over Brentwood, in what Coach Ander Monro called, "A superb performance all around."

The final pitted Shawnigan against rival St. George's, with more clinical rugby on display. Playing a passionate but relaxed game, Shawnigan overpowered the hosts to win the Provincial title.

Over the course of the weekend, Shawnigan won five straight games, outscoring opponents by a staggering 190-0.

Coach Monro singled out James M. for his outstanding leadership throughout the tournament, adding that, "The entire team's conduct on and off the field was top quality."
