Second at Island Championship
Golf Team qualifies for Provincials
On Thursday, May 26, the Shawnigan Golf Team qualified for the Provincial 'AA' Championship by placing second in the Island qualifier.
The contest, held this year at Pheasant Glen Golf Resort in Qualicum Beach, featured an 18-hole layout of vastly-contrasting nines. Under the pressure of competition, a number of distinguished players carded relatively high scores. The winning total (310) was higher than final totals from the past several years. Highlights from the Shawnigan team included an even-par 72 from Adam V. (grade 12) and a 69 from Tristan M. (grade 11). Tristan's score put him in a tie for the honour of tournament medalist.
The Provincial Championship will take place in Vancouver, June 6-8 at Capilano Golf & Country Club.
