Sport Colours
Third term standouts honoured
The chapel podium was filled with athletic stars as Shawnigan awarded third term athletic colours on Tuesday.
In opening his presentation, Director of Sport, Tim Murdy, touched on what has been a strong year for sports at the School, with rugby, tennis and golf teams all winning medals on the Provincial stage and rowing crews earning medals at the National level.
"Success as an athletic program should not just be measured by these kinds of results," Mr. Murdy said. It should also be measured by the variety of sports and activities that our students can choose from. Also, it should be measured by the individuals that have had the courage to try something new, as well as having the courage to push themselves to try and achieve their own personal best."
There were several grade 9 and 11 students who earned colours this term, though Mr. Murdy reminded the student body that this is an honour reserved for outstanding achievement in sport.
