Shawnigan's Junior Boys have opened their season with a weekend of development at the ISA championship.
Playing as the host team, Shawnigan opened the tournament with an outstanding effort in a 1-0 loss to a very skilled SMUS squad. Losses to Brentwood and St. George's moved Shawnigan into the bronze-medal game for the upper-tier of the event.
The team's performance in the bronze-medal game was its best yet, providing a terrific opportunity to salvage a medal. Unfortunately for Shawnigan, small mistakes in the second half allowed the rivals from Mill Bay to earn a come-from-behind victory.
Shawnigan gets a chance at redemption with a visit to Brentwood for the first game of the regular season on Oct. 4.
