Robotics at Shawnigan

Shawkbots host Provincial rivals
The third annual Shawnigan Robotics tournament saw 13 B.C. schools bring 44 robots, 124 students and 27 adults onto the Shawnigan campus this weekend.

In traditional Shawnigan style, we hosted the students in the dorms and the adults in Lecky House while the roboteers provided all the entertainment in the robotics field.

The new game this year  — "Starstruck" — has robots launching big foam stars and massive soft cubes over a 24-foot fence. The designs allow for robots to expand, grasp, throw and push the objects around the field.

With more than 40 Shawnigan staff and student volunteers running the show, it was capped off with Shawnigan capturing second place in a very strong tournament.

Thank you all the robotics supporters who came to watch these robots do their stuff!
