Girls win CVIAA playoffs
Shawnigan’s Grade 8 girls have wrapped up their volleyball season with a championship moment.
After a strong year, the girls headed to Lake Cowichan School on Tuesday for the CVIAA Midget Girls playoff tournament.
After a 3-0 start to the round-robin, the girls suffered a narrow loss to Cowichan in the final match of the group-phase. Undaunted, Shawnigan returned to the court five minutes later and beat the same Cowichan side comfortably in the championship game.
“The girls did great,” Coach Amanda Dalke said. “They had to step up their game after losing to Cowichan, and they came out and played their best.”
