“Head of School” is the School Prefect chosen as student leader. Since 2019-2020, there have been two Co-Heads: one girl and one boy.
“Head Student” is awarded for the highest academic placement in the student’s Grade 11 and 12 years.
“Sportsmanship Cup” is the top award for a male athlete, awarded to the student at first team level who has displayed not only a high standard of performance, but also enthusiasm, good conduct, and sportsmanship in victory and in defeat.
“Pooley Cup” is the top award for a female athlete, awarded to the student at first team level who has displayed not only a high standard of performance, but also enthusiasm, good conduct, and sportsmanship in victory and in defeat.
“Captains’ Trophy” (Male and Female) is awarded to an athlete for outstanding athletic ability and all-round contribution to sports at first team level. These students possess more than skill and athleticism; they are individuals who energize and motivate others in both practice and competition, and in doing so, enhance the success and enjoyment for all participants.
“The Doreen Deane Award for the Performing Arts” is awarded to a graduating student who has demonstrated passion, commitment, and excellence in the performing arts during their Shawnigan career. The recipient has been an avid learner, devoting extra-curricular time in developing their skills and encouraging others to pursue excellence in the arts by acting as a tutor and mentor.
“The Donald G. Rolston Award for the Visual Arts” is presented to a graduating student who has demonstrated passion, commitment, and excellence in the visual arts during their Shawnigan career, has been an avid learner, devoting extra-curricular time in developing their skills and has encouraged others to pursue excellence in the arts by acting as a tutor and mentor.
“Groves’ All Rounder” is one of the premier awards for a School with our philosophy. Awarded for all-round excellence in academics, athletics, and fine arts.
