Run for the Cure

Shawnigan students run in Victoria

A strong Shawnigan presence continues to support the fight against breast cancer.

Sunday saw the CIBC Run for the Cure make its annual return to the University of Victoria, with thousands of participants enthusiastically pledging funds and support.

220 students got up early and ventured to UVic for this year's walk/run, with house groups enjoying a brief shopping trip in Victoria before returning home.

All told, the Shawnigan contingent contributed more than $2,000 towards the cause. Sunday's event in Victoria was one of 56 nationwide, raising more than $16 million.

Shawnigan will continue the fight against cancer with Wednesday's visit from the Cops for Cancer.
