DELF exam season

Key exams are testing Shawnigan's aspiring Francophones.

Nearly 100 students have been sitting DELF exams over the past two weeks.

Certified by the European Commission and delivered by France's Ministry of Education, the Diplome d'etudes en langue francais (DELF) is a language proficiency course used across the globe.

The exams are offered at four levels (A1, A2, B1, and B2), and include listening, reading, writing, and speaking components.

Successful candidates can use their certification for admittance to university courses, as well as for professional accreditation and job interviews.

Shawnigan DELF Supervisor Jean-Jacques Receveaux says interest in DELF exams continues to grow in the community. As two of the only certified instructors in the region, Mr. and Mrs. Receveaux have also spent three days overseeing DELF exams at Cowichan High School. "I found it really refreshing," says Mr. Receveaux. "They're great students at Cowichan, and I've enjoyed visiting their school and speaking with them."
