Update: 1 April 2021

Dear Shawnigan Lake School parents and staff,

Further to my letter of Tuesday March 30th, I would like to provide an update on our recent COVID-19 exposure case. Over the last several days we have been in touch with the Island Health contact tracing team to ensure that we continue to maintain our COVID-19 protocols and monitor for any further risk in our community. I am pleased to report that, as of today, there have been no further suspected cases reported and the affected employee is resting at home and managing their symptoms.
Our cleaning protocols and physical distancing measures in common staff and student areas were discussed with Island Health and they are satisfied that we meet and exceed the expected practices in all areas. Our Project Restart team continues to meet regularly and measure our protocols against the latest Public Health and Ministry of Education orders and guidelines.

The COVID-19 exposure of a part-time and non-teaching member of staff has been a timely reminder, in parallel with rising numbers in BC, to maintain our vigilance as we step into the Easter Weekend. We have done so well, with our Shawnigan measures in place, to navigate the academic year so far without a student COVID-19 exposure and I ask that all students, staff and families take intelligent precautionary measures to protect our on-campus and in-person learning environment.
