360 Fair

On a beautiful Friday afternoon, the whole School was invited to participate in an important event on the school calendar: the annual 360 Fair. Shawnigan’s 360 (co-curricular activities) program provides opportunities for students to explore, experience, create, innovate, connect, reflect, and discover new things about themselves and the world around them. With 33 highly varied offerings for students to choose from, the 360 fair gives students a chance to make an informed decision when they select a co-curricular.
360 options range from digital illustration to robotics to Model UN, with everything in between. This year we are thrilled to introduce three student-led options: digital animation, jewellery making, and Electronic Game and App Development (EGAD), which was a new staff-led option last year. Other exciting additions to the world of 360 are Dungeons & Dragons and strategic games, improv, SPUD (Sustainable Produce Under Dome, which was introduced last spring), The Writers’ Room, and yoga & meditation. With such a wide range of activities to choose from, there is truly something for everyone!

Students interested in joining musical theatre and stage crew were eager to learn what this year’s musical production will be. We are pleased to announce that the musical theatre staff team have chosen Legally Blonde!

After the fair, students submitted their top five choices to Morgan McLeod, Director of 360. Mr. McLeod then carefully and thoughtfully assigned students to a 360, to which they will commit for the first half of the academic year. Students in most 360s will have the opportunity to sign up for a different co-curricular half-way through the year, with a few 360s running year-round due to the nature of the activity.

Now that our students’ imaginations have been sparked, we look forward to seeing all of the amazing things that they will do this year!

Shawnigan Lake School is adhering to all COVID-19 guidelines released by the BC Ministries of Health and Education.
