Outer Edge Camping
Ending the school year outdoors
Shawnigan's junior students took an expedition into the outdoors for Outer Edge 2017.
Having finishing their exams, the Grade 8 and 9 classes journeyed to Camp Saturna, in Northwestern Washington State, during the final week of School.
For five days, the 130 youngsters enjoyed paddling, climbing, traversing and team-building, with plenty of time set aside for campfires and fun and games.
The group returned on Friday afternoon, just in time for the final awards ceremony and Closing Day.
We acknowledge with respect the Coast Salish Peoples on whose traditional lands and waterways we live, learn and play. We are grateful for the opportunity to share in this beautiful region, and we aspire to healthy and respectful relationships with those who have lived on and cared for these lands for millennia.
