Shawnigan English Plus

School launches new summer program
The inaugural Shawnigan English Plus program, a two-week, residential English language summer camp, will take place on campus from July 15-29, 2018.

This new program reflects the high quality of a Shawnigan Lake School education and the School’s mission of leading young people in the pursuit of personal excellence through the challenges of a well-rounded education. Attendees will benefit from a comprehensive academic schedule combining 25-35 hours of ELL classroom instruction with subjects including science, arts and leadership.

“With specialist educators on board and world-class facilities, this summer program allows us to continue our standard of excellence, reaching more students. We are excited!” says Camp Director and ELL Specialist Kim Edgson. Julia Pollock, Camp Director and Admissions Associate, adds, “The demand for a program of this caliber has been growing exponentially during my years here. We are thrilled to bring the quality of Shawnigan Lake School into the summer months.”

The rigorous academic nature of the program is balanced by a variety of on-campus afternoon sports and fine arts activities as well as special off-campus weekend excursions to further explore Vancouver Island.

Staffed by British Columbia-certified teachers and TESL Canada trained language specialists as well as highly qualified house staff and residential counselors, the program is designed to help attendees advance their English skills with the goal of attending secondary school or university in English-speaking countries.
