Health & Wellness Day

A restorative pause
Health & Wellness Day started on a suitably relaxed note with a student sleep-in and in-house breakfast, allowing for a leisurely start to a day focused on well-being.

In place of classes, the day was organized around three consecutive blocks of time, each packed with a variety of different fun activities. Morning activities ranged from yoga and mini golf to soccer and mountain biking, while culinary and craft options included smoothie making in the Stag Café kitchen, gift-wrapping techniques and crochet for beginners.

The early afternoon saw a repeat of many of the morning sessions, offering students the opportunity to try something different, with a trip to the Cowichan Aquatic Centre or a hike at Stoney Hill Regional Park added as additional off-campus excursions.

To wind down the day, students could opt for a final burst of energizing sport, a healing meditation session, a movie showing in the theatre, or Christmas crafts.

After spending a day enjoying a break from the usual routine, the community gathered in front of the main building to enjoy hot chocolate and carols and a countdown to Shawnigan’s light-up, as Christmas lights decorating the main building, front gardens and Kaye Gardens were illuminated as darkness fell.
