Azabu Exchange

Until next time, Azabu friends!
Shawnigan bid a fond farewell this week to exchange students and teachers from Azabu High School in Tokyo, Japan.

In the course of their visit, Azabu's ten exchange students lived in two boarding houses and attended classes and Stag Cafe with their student hosts, went rowing on Shawnigan Lake, took to the ice to go skating at the arena, hiked with Rev, participated in chapel and sport, were part of a recording session, and spent a day in Victoria touring the Royal BC Museum, seeing the sights, and shopping for souvenirs.

On their second-to-last night, the students put on a “Japan Night” presentation, highlighting traditional customs, clothing, and games, and performing Japanese dance and song.

The visit continues a fantastic partnership that dates back nearly two decades, with the most recent Shawnigan contingent travelling to Japan in the fall of 2018, and groups from Azabu visiting Shawnigan each spring.
