Forest Fairy Trail

Sharing the magic of nature

The Shawnigan E-Club's newest initiative aims at sharing the magic of the forest with preschoolers.

The project is a cross-curricular effort among the E-Club and an assortment of academic and fine arts programs to create a Fairy Forest Trail for local children to enjoy.

The trail starts at the Montessori Preschool on the edge of the School, and meanders a short distance through the rainforest that Shawnigan is built on.  It includes six small fairy villages, each linked to a particular feature of the forest environment with a box containing interpretive maps at the trailhead.

The project has now been entered into the 10th annual BC Green Games – a Science World-sponsored competition that promotes local environmental education across the Province.

Online voting is open until the end of March, with winners to be announced on April 4.  Vote for Shawnigan's Fairy Forest Trail here.
